Pride in Hull was back in 2023, bigger and better than ever before with a new theme: Access All Areas. This year the main stage for Pride in Hull was at the fabulous venue, Zebedee’s Yard with other activity happening all around the city centre.

THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE

We are proud (see what we did there!) to have worked with the charity behind Pride in Hull to introduce technology to their event. They wanted to have an app that would allow attendees to keep up to date with the latest news and activities across the city centre.

THE PROCESS

Working collaboratively with the Pride team our aim was to give users a full view timetable ensuring they could see the events of the day and enjoy the festival to the fullest. We also introduced the use of QR codes around the city for users to scan and use our app, removing as much paper as possible. The volunteers at the festival donned t-shirts with the QR code on to add a touch of fun to the festivities. It was hugely important to deliver a solution that can scale with the festival year on year.

THE SOLUTION

This Pride in Hull app was launched as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and includes a full programme of events, allowing users to plan their own festival experience along with receiving latest news from the festival organisers.

Along with the development of the app, we provided consultation on helping the festival give attendees a fantastic user experience giving them the confidence the festival would be another success in 2023!
