Pride in Hull returned in 2023, bigger and bolder than ever before with the theme: Access All Areas. The main stage took over the vibrant Zebedee’s Yard, while other exciting events filled the surrounding city centre. This year, Sauce proudly joined the celebrations by powering the Pride in Hull app, helping festival-goers stay connected and informed.

THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE

We proudly collaborated with the charity behind Pride in Hull to bring smart technology to the celebration. They needed a user-friendly mobile app that would keep attendees up to date with the latest news, stage times, and activities throughout the city centre — all without the need for printed materials.

THE PROCESS

Our team worked closely with the Pride organisers to design and build a full-view timetable within the Pride in Hull app. We introduced QR codes across key festival locations, making it easy for users to access the app instantly. Even the volunteers wore t-shirts printed with QR codes, adding a playful twist to tech-enabled engagement.

Our solution aimed to be as sustainable as it was functional, reducing paper usage and allowing the app to scale with the festival for future years.

THE SOLUTION

The Pride in Hull app launched as a Progressive Web App (PWA), giving users access to a complete schedule of events, live updates, and personalized planning tools. In addition to app development, we offered UX consultation to ensure a smooth, engaging experience for every festival attendee.

Thanks to our collaborative approach, Pride in Hull delivered another unforgettable event in 2023—with a digital twist that set the tone for years to come.
